What does your business sell?

What do each of the following sell?

  • Grocery store
  • Clothing store
  • Jewelry store
  • Restaurant
  • Toy store
  • Book store
  • Gas Station

Some businesses sell "goods", material objects that you can touch, just like in the examples above. Other businesses sell services, or "help" from people who are experienced in that line of work. See if you can decide what each of the following businesses sell.

  • Dry cleaners
  • Janitorial service
  • Lawn care business
  • Pet sitting business
  • Banks
  • Auto repair business
  • Airline
  • Day care

Process:

Activity 1:

Many businesses provide both goods and services. One example is a landscaping business, which provides goods (bushes, trees, fertilizer, soil) and services (cutting the lawn, pruning the bushes, planting the flowers). Watch the following slideshow of the daily operation at a kennel. As you watch the slideshow, try to be thinking of what goods and services the kennel provides.

Visit a kennel

What "goods" did you see in the slideshow?

What "services" did you see in the slideshow?

Activity 2:
