Sharra Renee Jones received her Bachelor's degree in education from Millsaps College in 2008 and a master degree from Mississippi College in 2009. She currently teaches at Laurel High School 9th grade campus in Laurel, MS and her current teaching assignment common core algebra one and math lab.

She received three Best Practice Award for economic education (MCEE) in the year of 2010, 2011, and 2013 and a runner up for teacher of the year award in 2011. She was given the opportunity to speak to at a Senator Hearing on implementing financial literacy in education. Sharra was selected to attend a Training of Writers: Math in the Real World workshop, where math and economics teachers across the U.S. were selected to help a write a new economics curriculum that integrated mathematics.
